Greek shipowners are leading the way when it comes to the renewal and upgrading of their fleets. There is also a growing number of Greek companies developing and manufacturing marine equipment which is gaining a strong presence in this ongoing fleet upgrade. Many of these manufacturing companies are members of the association of Hellenic Marine Equipment Manufacturers & Exporters - HEMEXPO, which is striving to promote Greek-made equipment.

Following the success of the first 'SUPPORT THE LOCAL MARITIME INDUSTRY SUMMIT', in March 2017, Newsfront / Naftiliaki, which was supported by Greece’s Marine Technical Managers Association (Martecma), are organising a second 'Support the Local Maritime Industry Summit' which will be held within the framework of Posidonia 2018.

Like this great international shipping event, the Summit will be held in Athens Metropolitan Expo complex during Posidonia Week, on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Aim of this Summit is to bring together HEMEXPO member companies and the technical directors of Greek and international shipping companies and engage them in an interactive dialogue which will benefit both Greek equipment makers their clients and shipping at large.

At the Summit, companies manufacturing marine equipment will present their products and services while a number of senior shipping directors will discuss the experience they have gained as technical managers involved in an activity so important to the Greek economy.
